Enrollment period for state’s GET program begins Friday

OLYMPIA — Washington’s Guaranteed Education Tuition program opens enrollment Friday.

The GET program allows families or individuals to purchase blocks of tuition at today’s cost to be used in the future — an insurance against inflation or rising tuition — and can be used tax-free.

The current cost of one GET unit is $172. One hundred GET units is equivalent to a year’s in-state tuition and fees at the most expensive Washington public university (currently the University of Washington, which cost $12,397 for in-state students this year).

GET units can be used at public or private university or technical schools nationwide.

The GET enrollment year runs through May 31.
