HEPPNER — Weston-McEwen remained unbeaten here Saturday at the Heppner Invitational volleyball tournament. The TigerScots won all four of their matches.
W-M opened with a 25-20, 25-15 win over the host Heppner Mustangs. Dufur gave the TigerScots their only three-set battle of the day. W-M won the first set 25-19, but Dufur tied the match with a 25-18 win to force a deciding third set. The TigerScots got it done with a 15-7 win.
Weston-McEwen finished off the day with straight-set victories over Grant Union and Wallowa.
“I’m pleased with the day,” TigerScot coach Shawn White said. “We were a little up and down on our passing. (But, overall) we were consistent all day. We improved on the things we have been working on which is what you want to see each week.”
Molly von Borstel led the TigerScot hitters with 44 kills on the day. Keegan Shepard added 17 kills, Melanie Sederburg with 16, and Lacey Kuehn chipped with 12 kills added to the W-M offense. Betsy West posted five blocks at the net as did Taryn Coffman. Coffman also led the TigerScot setters with 86 assists. Danni Dearing served 48-of-52 and scored 14 aces to lead the TigerScot servers. Natalie Arnold led the defense with a team-high 25 digs.
W-M, 7-0 on the year, returns to action Tuesday with a non-league trip to Union.
