MILTON-FREEWATER — McLoughlin High’s volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to visiting Riverside and Helix on the Pioneers’ court Tuesday night.
Riverside won in four sets, 25-17, 25-14, 19-25 and 25-20.
“Mackenzie Fite had a great serving match, serving 22-for-23 with five aces along with 13 assists,” Mac-Hi coach Kaila Rodighiero said.
Amber Wells was 10-for-11 serving with two Pioneers aces, and Makayla Kelly was 13-for-13 with three aces.
Jessica Dodd had six kills, and Amanda Rhoads five kills along with six digs.
“We played well in this match,” Rodighiero said. “The girls were intense and their energy was there. We are just trying to become more consistent and accurate throughout the whole match so we don’t have to come back from deep holes.”
Helix also won in four sets, 25-18, 25-14, 24-26 and 25-17.
Fite again led Mac-Hi’s service game with 23-for-24 and five aces.
Becky Grimaldi was 13-for-14, and Dodd came up with three kills.
“This game, I feel like would have been different if it was our first,” Rodighiero said. “I could tell the girls were tired, but they fought for their points. I had a different lineup in this match, too.
“All-in-all, it was a good day of volleyball,” she said. “The girls just keep improving.”
The Pioneers play in the Waitsburg-Prescott tournament Saturday.
