Vivian was born to Joseph and Gleana Merrit-Taylor in Elgin, Ore. Vivian later moved to Milton-Freewater, where she grew up attending local schools and graduated from McLoughlin Union High School in 1945. From there she pursued beauty school in Pendleton and became a cosmetologist. In 1948 she married Eddie LeFore and they had four children. The marriage later ended in divorce. In 1952 she purchased Rae’s Beauty Salon, where her lifelong dream came true. Vivian enjoyed doing hair and visiting with everyone who came into her salon. In 1967 she married her high school sweetheart, Linus “Swede” Anderson. They were married on the Anderson family farm in Weston. After 38 years at the beauty shop she sold the business and retired at the age of 62. In 2001, Linus passed away. Vivian enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, knitting, playing solitaire and watching her game shows. She was an avid bowler and a member of the Twilight Lady’s League. She went to Seattle and even Las Vegas to compete in bowling. Vivian loved her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren especially around the holidays; those were the most precious to her.

Vivian is survived by her daughter, Jolene (Charles) Phillips of Milton-Freewater; son, James (Dottie) LeFore of Nottingham, Pa.; daughter, LaDena (Steve) Bochsler of Aumsville, Ore.; three step-daughters, Christine (Daniel) Hill of Salem, Cheryl (Skip) Anderson-York of Milton-Freewater and Chrystal (Greg) Anderson-Gay of Cortez, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
