Walla Walla Symphony youth orchestra auditions approaching

WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla Symphony Youth Orchestra, directed by Jeremy Mims, will hold auditions for the 2013-14 season from 2-6:30 p.m. Sunday and 4-5:30 p.m. Monday in the music building at Whitman College, 345 Boyer Ave.

Instrumental strings, winds, brass, and percussion students in grades 8-12 who participate in their school music programs are invited to audition.

Students should prepare a 1- to 2-minute solo and will be asked to sight read.

All students must audition regardless of past participation with the Symphony.

The Walla Walla Symphony Youth Orchestra is free to all players, and presents several free public concerts during the season.

Rehearsals will be 5:30- 7 p.m. Sundays in the Whitman College music building for the first four weeks and 6:30-8 p.m. on Mondays at Garrison Middle School for the remaining weeks.
