Pacific Northwest television personality John Curley will bring some star power as the returning host of Entwine 2013.
The annual wine reception at Walla Walla Community College’s Dietrich Dome will take place Oct. 12. The event is part auction and part dinner and recognition event for outstanding graduates of the community college’s award-winning programs. Money raised will be dedicated to scholarship funds.
Doors open at 5 p.m with a silent auction and wine reception featuring 22 wineries — each with a graduate or current student of the college’s Enology & Viticulture program pouring.
The 2013 Distinguished Enology & Viticulture Graduates are: Matt Huse of Five Star Cellars; Marcus Miller of Airfield Estates; Chris Peterson of Avennia; and Tanya Woodley of SuLei Cellars. The 2013 Distinguished Culinary Graduates are Caren McIntyre of Bon Apetit; and Brian Mahan of Graze.
Curley, the former host of Seattle’s “Evening Magazine,” will take the stage at 6:30 p.m. to lead the live auction portion of the evening during the wine-paired gourmet four-course dinner. The auction will feature one-of-a-kind lots, including a collection of eight 3-liter bottles from the winery members of the Advisory Board and a wine country excursion with private tastings at Leonetti, Cayuse and Pepper Bridge wineries, a gourmet lunch provided by Wine Country Culinary Institute and hosted by Dr. Alan Busacca, director of the college’s Enology & Viticulture program.
