RICHLAND — Walla Walla High School’s girls soccer team fell to Mid-Columbia Conference foe Hanford, 5-0, here Tuesday night.
The Falcons outshot the Blue Devils 20-2 in the match.
“We ran up against another tough opponent in Hanford – they are without question the best team we have seen so far,” Wa-Hi coach Keven Peck said. “Regardless, it was another great effort from our girls. They could have easily given up, but they kept on battling. I was really proud of them.”
Hanford got on the scoreboard when Monica Rowley booted a goal 20 minutes in. That was followed by Coco Gall’s goals at the 46th and 57th minutes, Sadie Newsom’s at 54 minutes and Hannah Thompson’s at the 76-minute mark.
“These girls have a lot of pride and they are determined to get better,” Peck said of the Blue Devils. “Each match is an opportunity for them to understand each other more and grow as a team. This is only our third match together. We are basing our success on performance and allowing the results to fall as they will.”
Wa-Hi next hosts Pasco at 1 p.m. Saturday.
