Walla Walla School Board
Board members are Anne Golden, Dan Hess, David Hampson, Ruth Ladderud and Cindy Meyer. With all present Tuesday, the board:
ENROLLMENT: Heard report from superintendent Mick Miller that the district was 65 students short of its projected enrollment. Miller said that the difference in state funding would largely by covered by the district’s contingency fund, but the fund would be depleted by its use.
CONSENT: Approved a consent agenda consisting of a personnel report, extracurricular contracts, co-curricular contracts, Sept. 17 accounts payable, August financial report, Carl Perkins Grant, minutes of Sept. 3 meeting, 2013-14 Head Start Calendar revisions, out-of-state travel.
STEM: Heard report from Blue Ridge principal Kim Doepker and teachers Janifer Sames and Kristen Garcia on Blue Ridge’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics program.
CITIZEN’S COMMENTS: Was presented with a framed picture commemorating the five-year anniversary of the opening of The Health Center at Lincoln High School.
REPORTS: Heard report on Facilities and Operations department.
ACTION: Initiated a plan to rotate one school board meeting per month to different schools in the district. These meetings would consist of an abbreviated business portion and an extended work session in which the board would hear presentations from the host school. Pending final approval, the rotating schedule would begin in February.
