COLTON — Colton pulled out a hard-fought, five-set volleyball victory over Pomeroy here Tuesday.
Colton won 25-13, 19-25, 20-25, 25-22 and 15-11.
“It was a close match, it could have gone either way,” Pirates coach Bruce Crossfield said. “It was a good learning experience for us playing a close match against a good team on the road.
“We got behind in sets four and five, and had good comebacks in both,” he said. “We showed some grit in doing so.”
Savannah Ruark had 16 kills and five blocks for Pomeroy, Mackenzie Monahan had 15 kills and four blocks, Ireland Mayfield dished out 30 assists, and Kacey Halbert recorded three aces.
