POMEROY — Pomeroy won a non-league volleyball match over visiting Dayton Wednesday night, 25-17, 25-18 and 25-9.
The Pirates’ victory comes a day after they suffered a five-set loss at Colton.
“After a tough five-set road loss the night before, I was concerned with how we might come out, but we showed a lot of focus and determination,” Pomeroy coach Bruce Crossfield said. “I was very pleased with that.”
Mackenzie Monahan smacked 13 kills for the Pirates, Ally Bott had six kills, Ireland Mayfield dished out 21 assists, Kacey Halbert came up with six digs and MaKenzie Uto had four aces and had 19 straight service points in the third set.
Dayton heads back to Pomeroy on Saturday for the fourth annual Border Battle tournament, with Washington schools Clarkston, Asotin and St. John-Endicott team with the Bulldogs and Pirates to play Idaho schools Troy, Genesee, Orofino, Kamiah and Prairie for state bragging rights.
