Sounders, Galaxy draw 1-1 in MLS

CARSON, California (AP) — Seattle's Eddie Johnson and Los Angeles' Juninho traded first-half goals as the Sounders and Galaxy settled for a 1-1 draw in Major League Soccer on Saturday.

Johnson headed home a corner to give Seattle a 25th-minute lead, before Juninho scored with a 24-yard (meter) free kick in first-half stoppage time.

Both teams were without their U.S. national team players. Galaxy forward Landon Donovan sprained his ankle sustained last weekend and Sounders forward Clint Dempsey strained a calf in training this week.

New England's Lee Nguyen scored from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute to help the Revolution keep their playoff hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over D.C. United.

D.C. United took the lead in the 11th minute after New England defender Scott Caldwell conceded an own goal by, but the Revolution equalized in the 58th through Diego Fagundez.

At Columbus, Ohio, Dominic Oduro scored in the first half and Federico Higuain converted a penalty after the break as the Crew cruised to 3-0 victory over a 10-man Chicago Fire.

Oduro took a pass from Jairo Arrieta on the right side of the box in the 15th minute and fired into the far corner.

The Fire were reduced to 10 players in the 29th minute when Bakary Soumare was sent off for his challenge on Arrieta just outside the penalty area.

Arrieta was tackled by goalkeeper Sean Johnson in the 70th minute and Higuain converted from the spot. Bernardo Anor made it 3-0 in the 76th.

Houston's Giles Barnes and Boniek Garcia scored two goals each as the Dynamo strengthened their hold on fourth place in the East with a 5-1 victory over Chivas USA.

Will Bruin also scored for Houston, while Eric Avila scored for Chivas.

In other games, Sporting Kansas City edged Toronto FC 2-1, the San Jose Earthquakes beat Real Salt Lake 2-1 and the Vancouver Whitecaps downed the Montreal Impact 3-0.
