PILOT ROCK — The Weston-McEwen volleyball team picked up a pair of league wins here Saturday against host Pilot Rock and the Heppner Mustangs.
W-M (15-1 overall, 5-0 Blue Mountain Conference) defeated its two opponents in six straight games. The TigerScots defeated the Mustangs 25-21 in game one and won a pivotal second game 26-24 after trailing 24-22.
In the four-point final scoring swing, Keegan Shepard had two kills and a block for three of the points. On the day, Shepard had 15 kills and six blocks.
In the decisive game three versus Heppner, W-M outscored the Mustangs 25-13.
W-M then took care of business against Pilot Rock, beating them by scores of 25-14, 25-9 and 25-17.
“When we play league doubles every Saturday,” TigerScot coach Shawn White said, “it is important to play well and get a couple of wins.”
From her setter position, Taryn Coffman had 50 assists and six blocks on the day.
Molly vonBorstel racked up 27 kills, 17 digs and five aces.
Taylor Rudolph was 23-for-23 from the line with two service aces. Melanie Sederburg had 12 digs and four kills; while Danni Dearing had 12 digs and six aces.
“It’s not the best that we’ve played overall this season,” White said. “But several of the ladies stepped and played well.”
W-M plays again Thursday at Elgin at 6 p.m.
