Work on a vacant Isaacs Avenue building has been dialed up in recent weeks to prepare for an incoming Verizon Go Wireless retail operation.
The building that formerly housed Schucks — now known as O’Reilly Auto Parts — at Isaacs and Wilbur avenues is being divided, and part of it will be occupied by a Verizon shop, said property owner Tom Watson.
Although an opening date has yet to be determined, Verizon will have possession of the space on or before Oct. 15, Watson said.
The retail shop will move from its downtown digs on First Avenue, he said.
A second tenant has not yet signed a lease for the remaining space. Watson said the tenant that shares the building will likely be a high-volume retail or restaurant franchise.
