Whitman’s Rachel Cline receives recognition

WALLA WALLA — After playing a key role in Whitman College’s two victories over the weekend, Rachel Cline has been named the Northwest Conference Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week.

In Friday’s matchup against Lewis & Clark, Cline recorded 15 kills and 28 assists.

The next night in Whitman’s five-set win over Willamette, Cline provided 13 kills and 26 assists to go along with 11 digs.

Her hitting percentage for the two matches was a lofty .311.

With their 2-0 start, the Missionaries are tied for first place in the NWC with Pacific Lutheran and Puget Sound.

Whitman travels to play Pacific (1-1) on Friday and George Fox (0-2) on Saturday.
