WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla High School volleyball team was without two key cogs, as the Blue Devils dropped a Mid-Columbia Conference match to Kamiakin here Thursday.

Wa-Hi head coach Don Hepker said the Blue Devils were missing outside hitter Reece Carman and setter Katie Green because of illness.

Wa-Hi (3-6, 2-4) dropped the match in straight sets, 25-15, 25-9, 25-14.

“We had to battle more than just the other team tonight,” Hepker said. “The team rallied together and fought like a team.”

With Green out, Hepker turned to Lily Kaminski, who racked up eight assists and eight digs. Hepker said her contributions were amazing on both sides of the ball.

Madi Doepker led the Blue Devils with eight kills. Jaime Quaresma finished the match with three kills, seven digs and four assists.

Wa-Hi plays at Richland Tuesday.
