UMATILLA — The McLoughlin High School volleyball team won the first two sets, but lost to Umatilla in five sets here Thursday.
Mac-Hi opened the match with a 27-25 first-set win and followed that with a 25-19 win in the second set. The Vikings answered by taking the final three sets, however, 25-21, 25-16, 15-5.
Mac-Hi head coach Kaila Rodighiero said the Pioneers played their best volleyball of the season.
“We did the little things right, we were intense and the line up just molded,” Rodighiero said. “I’m so proud of the way they played, even if we lost the match. The positive thing is we keep moving forward and we are becoming more competitive.”
Jessica Dodd finished 20-of-20 serving with three aces and five kills. Brooke Kralman had a team-high 32 digs.
