KENNEWICK — Walla Walla High School ran into a determined Kamiakin soccer team here Saturday at Lampson Stadium in Mid-Columbia Conference girls soccer action.
The Braves fired 23 shots on the Blue Devil net and seven of those found the back of the net as Kamiakin emerged with a 7-0 win.
Breanna Turley started the Brave scoring at the five-minute mark. Heather Donals, Alisha Nguyen added two goals, one on a penalty kick, and Rylie Dixon scored before intermission as the Braves went to the half up 5-0.
“Today, we got off to a slow start and never recovered,” Wa-Hi coach Keven Peck said. “We didn’t play well.”
Rilee Castilla and Lexi McQueary added second-half Kamiakin goals to run the final to 7-0.
“I credit the girls as they kept trying to find a rhythm and some form of success,” Peck said. “Today we learned a lot. We need to keep moving forward and keep getting better.”
The schedule does not get easier for the Blue Devils as perennial power Richland visits Tuesday at 4 p.m.
