LaVolla F. Dickerson, 91, passed away peacefully Sept. 12, 2013, at her home. LaVolla was born Oct. 5, 1921, in Yakima, to Cecil and Della (Larrabee) Kinney. She attended high school at Auburn Academy where she met her husband Carl Dickerson. On Oct. 7, 1939, she and Carl were married in Auburn, Wash. They moved to this area in 1966 from Enumclaw, Wash. She worked in the laundry at Walla Walla College for many years, and also worked for 12 years in the office at Schmidt’s Holiday Cleaners where she became acquainted with most everyone in town. She was a member of the College Place Village Seventh-day Adventist Church.
LaVolla is survived by her two daughters, Rosalie Dickerson and Carleen Dickerson Jones; her son, Larry Dickerson; her brother, Howard Kinney; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband.
The memorial service will be 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at the Village Seventh-day Adventist Church, 12th and Larch Streets, College Place. Pastor Steve Walikonis will officiate. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, 1551 Dalles Military Road, Walla Walla WA 99362.
