PENDLETON — The Walla Walla High School softball team traded leads with Pendelton early on, but the Blue Devils posted three runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-4 win on Friday.
Led by Jordy Storm, who went 3-for-4 at the plate with a triple and a home run, the Blue Devil offense did enough for pitcher Ellie Rassbach to toss a complete game. Rassbach finished with six strikeouts in the game, as the defense aided her with a bevy of standout plays.
“We had a few defensive hiccups that we would like to eliminate, but the girls came up with several clutch plays with runners in scoring position,” Wa-Hi coach Kate Keyes said. “Lauren Likes came up with a diving catch in the bottom of the third to end the inning and keep the score tied at three.
In the 7th inning, we were facing the top of their lineup and Whitney Enriquez caught a line drive and threw it over to first for a double play that really sealed the deal.”
The Blue Devils square off with Pasco on Saturday.
