Letter - More public toilets needed in downtown Walla Walla

It is difficult to find a public toilet in downtown Walla Walla.

We are expecting more visitors and they have toilet needs. Let’s take some of our vacant space on Main Street and create some nice clean toilets for our visitors to use.

Yes, the need is there. Such facilities are very hard to manage. If you will be on call 24-7 to clean up when someone is passed out in a pool of vomit, we can do this.

Please google portlandloo.com. These toilet facilities are made out of steel, spartan looking but their simplicity deter nefarious behavior in that they are relatively open to the outside, others can see your legs and hear your valsalvas. There are no mirrors, no sinks that could invite laundry washing, are cold as Antarctica and are clean but uncomfortable. They are design for number one and number two "quickys" and not for lingering while reading the Oregonian.

Cost? About $100 thousands now, maybe cheaper as orders pile up. Maintenance is approximately $12,000 per year.

I can't wait for the Walla Walla INAUGURAL FLUSH!
