Army National Guard Pfc. Joseph L. Stocks graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, Stocks studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, weapons, chemical warfare, drill and ceremony, marching, marksmanship, map reading, field tactics, marches and field training exercises.

Stocks is the son of Joseph Stocks of Gadsden, Ala., and Edith Welch of Burbank, Wash.

He is a 2013 graduate of Gadsden City High School, Ala.
