Pirates fall to Grangeville

GRANGEVILLE, Idaho — The Pomeroy High School baseball team lost 4-0 and 6-3 to the defending state champs of Idaho in their division, Grangeville.

In game one, Grangeville pitcher Jasper Sabtino dominated the Pirates with 12 strikeouts, just one walk and only one hit surrendered.

In the second game, the Pirates rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh and brought the tying run to the plate in the rally, but could not complete the comeback.

Pomeroy freshman Cade Gingerich had a hit in both games. He also caught the whole first game and started on the mound in the second.

The Pirates (5-6-1 overall, 1-1 in Southeast 1B) hosts Walla Walla Valley Academy on Monday.
