Indians rally late to split with Rosalia

ROSALIA — The Touchet baseball team overcame a one-run deficit in the seventh inning to manage a split against Rosalia on Monday.

The Indians, down 7-6 heading into the final frame, erupted for six runs in the seventh, including a two-run shot to dead center by Colter McKeown. Touchet went through its order in the seventh, before pitcher Jared Ortiz shut the door on the Spartans in the bottom of the frame.

“The bottom of my lineup came alive,” Touchet coach Tim McKeown said. “They work on it all the time in practice and they came up (clutch) in that last inning. It started getting contagious, kids starting popping balls.”

In the first game, the two teams battled to a 5-5 tie by the end of seven innings. In the bottom of the eighth, Rosalia plated one run to clinch a 6-5 win. The Indians’ offense, which scored its five runs through the first five innings, was held in check for the remainder of the game.

“(Ryan) Maley just settled down,” McKeown said of Rosalia’s game one starter. “We jumped on him a little bit in the first three innings, but I think we were just a little impatient. (In) the sixth inning, we got three hits, but the bats kind of went silent on us and we just have to do a lot better job.”

Touchet (3-5 overall, 1-3 in Southeast 1B) hosts Dayton today.
