WALLA WALLA — When it comes to golf courses, Walla Walla boasts one that offers “the best bang for your greens-fee buck,” according to a new listing.
Epoch Times, a New York-based global news source, has included Wine Valley Golf Club on its list of Top 12 U.S. Golf Courses Based on Value.
The list is a cluster of golf courses that essentially serve as the next best thing to luxurious ultra-private clubs like Augusta National, or courses like Pebble Beach that are open to the public but cost hundreds just to play, and require lodging.
“Throughout America, there are golf courses equally outstanding on both fronts — first-rate designs with prices that won’t cost you your firstborn,” the piece by M. James Ward explained.
Walla Walla’s course was included with Black Mesa in Espanola, N.M.; Twisted Dune in Little Egg Harbor, N.J.; and World Woods in Brooksville, Fla.; to name a few.
“With its artful logo of a corkscrew attached to a flagstick, Wine Valley has been open only a few years, but it has quickly become a ‘must play’ for golfers seeking a truly adventurous course,” Ward wrote in the piece. “Firm and fast turf conditions with amply wide fairways are in the mix along with sweeping wind conditions providing ever changing elements from one day to the next.
“Various ‘stay and play’ packages are available as well as tours of some of the best vineyards in the western United States. Sit out on the back porch, wine glass in hand, as the sun descends for a grand conclusion to your day.”
