WALLA WALLA — Wa-Hi raised its Mid-Columbia Conference record to 7-5 Saturday with a Senior Day victory over visiting Southridge, 3-0.
The Blue Devils got a pair of goals from Francisco Sanchez and one from Esteban Ojeda in the victory that avenged a loss to the Suns earlier in the season.
Sanchez scored his first goal, assisted by Christian Vega, in the seventh minute of play. Ojeda tallied his score midway through the second half off a Vega assist. Sanchez ended the scoring at the 70-minute mark — assisted by Gerardo Gomez.
Wa-Hi outshot Southridge, 20-4.
“They are a side that hasn’t done very well,” Wa-Hi coach Mike Washington said of the struggling Suns. “This was a match we knew we wanted to win. We needed to take the game away from them. We controlled the tempo from start to finish. They didn’t create very much.”
The Blue Devils play at Kamiakin on Tuesday.
