WALLA WALLA — Southridge took a Mid-Columbia Conference girls tennis match from Walla Walla High on the Blue Devil courts on Monday, 6-1.
Wa-Hi’s doubles team of Jennifer Bautista and Jazmin Duran picked up the lone Blue Devil victory, a 6-4, 6-1 win over Elizabeth Borlaug and Savannah Brown.
“I was really proud of the girls today,” Wa-Hi coach Keven Peck said. “Despite the loss, they all played very hard and competed for every point.
“We continue to struggle getting singles points — it is certainly not for lack of effort,” he said. “The singles girls are working hard and getting better. It is just going to take patience and a lot more singles court time.
“Our doubles highlight came with Jennifer Bautista and Jazmin Duran keeping their winning streak alive at the No. 2 doubles position,” Peck said. “They have been playing very well together. They seem to get more confident and mentally tough with every match.
“We always get a good run for our money with Southridge. The experience we gain from playing tough teams like Southridge is valuable experience that will help us down the road.”
The Blue Devils travel to Kamiakin at 4 p.m. today and host Pasco on Thursday.
