MOSES LAKE — The Walla Walla High School Equestrian Team finished second at its second meet of the year at the Grant County Fairgrounds on April 6.
The Blue Devils, led by Lexi’s Shaw’s three first-place finishes, scored a total of 124 team points, which trailed only Columbia-Burbank.
Shaw finished first in showmanship, stock seat equitation and trail equitation. She also finished second in English and third in reining. With her strong results, Shaw scored 94 points, as athletes are only allowed to compete in five events.
Behind Shaw, teammate Sierra Smith finished second in showmanship and third in trail. With her other three events, Smith garnered 64 points.
Kyla Connall nabbed second in figure eight, Gabrielle Longmire finished fourth in showmanship, Lacey Klem took second in working rancher and Gina Maiuri also got second in steer daubing.
The In Hand Obstacle relay team of Smith, Shaw, Longmire and Hayley Taylor finished first, while the drill team of Smith, Maiuri, Taylor and Connall took second.
