A remodel of Applebee’s didn’t exactly happen overnight. It was more like three.
After a four-day closure that started last Sunday, the Walla Walla location of the American neighborhood grill chain opens today with a revamped appearance.
The new look at the restaurant, 1604 Plaza Way, is part of an overhaul of the chain taking place at franchises across the country.
The major changes described in media about other franchises includes warmer color tones, an updated contemporary design, service and kitchen preparation improvement and features that highlight the local community.
Items that previously adorned the walls as tributes to local sports teams and organizations were reportedly sold to reduce and refocus the décor.
The business still honors the local community but this time with murals. Preview pictures posted on the Applebee’s Facebook page show a wall dedicated to the Walla Walla Sweets baseball club, and another to the community, including Fort Walla Walla.
