STARBUCK — Swim the Snakecomes to Lyons Ferry Park from 11 a.m.-noon on Saturday.
The event is a non-competitive, open-water .7-mile swim across the Snake River from Lyons Ferry Park on the north to Lyons Ferry Marina on the south side of the river. Swimmers can choose to swim back to Lyons Ferry Park.
It is for intermediate or better-level swimmers, ages 10 and over. It benefits the Blue Mountain Resource Conservation and Development Council and the Dayton and Pomeroy Summer Youth Swim Team programs.
Registration and information is on website sites.google.com/site/swimthesnake/. Pre-registration is encouraged, T-shirt sizes and availability cannot be guaranteed unless received by Thursday.
Participants must check in at Lyons Ferry Park and pay the $30 fee by 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. The fee includes T-shirt, required swim cap, bottle of water and slice of chilled melon at the end.
Participants must sign a release of liability. Swimmers 10-15 years old are required to swim with an adult over 18 years old.
Wetsuits are permitted; however, floatation devices; lifejackets, paddle boards, swimmies, inner tubes, etc. are not allowed.
