A business known for fitness is focusing its latest movement on a back-to-school shoe drive.

To Your Health Nutrition is collecting shoes for children in need.

Shoes for kids from preschoolers to high-schoolers will be accepted through September at the business that focuses on fitness and nutrition as an Herbalife distributor, 132 W. Rose St.

Operator Stevie Johnson said via email the group there is passionate about children’s charities. Shoes, she said, can do much for those in need, from increasing self-esteem to inspiring more physical activity through proper footwear. And more activity can help with a reduction in childhood obesity and juvenile diabetes, she pointed out.

The shoe drive is just one element of community service taking place there. This Saturday, To Your Health Nutrition will host a Clean Up Walla Walla Day as participants hit the streets with trash bags for garbage pickup. Additionally, a portion of the operation’s Weight Loss Challenge entry fee is also dedicated to Children’s Home Society.

Hours of operation for donations are 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday, plus 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays. For more details, call 206-669-5674.
