WALLA WALLA — The DeSales girls basketball team avenged its only Southeast 2B loss with a resounding 59-18 win against Tri-Cities Prep on Friday.

DeSales was out for revenge, coach Tim Duncan said, after the Jaguars downed the Irish 41-37 on Jan. 11. The Irish (15-4, 9-1 in Southeast 2B) had no trouble this go around, as DeSales’ defense restricted Tri-Cities Prep to only five first half points en route to a 26-5 lead at the break.

“Compared to the last game, I think both ends were a lot better,” Duncan said. “Defensively, when we played them over there, they were allowed to do whatever they wanted to. Our kids just got after them defensively. Then offensively, we shot better.”

Allison Wujek paced the Irish offense with 17 points. Teresa Acock added 16 points on the strength of three 3-pointers.

The Irish face Sunnyside Christian on Tuesday in a nonleague game.
