Robert and Elaine Johnson of Umapine will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a gathering of family and friends 2-4 p.m. Feb. 8 at Tate’s Umapine Mercantile.
The couple met at a county fair in Minnesota, where Elaine was the dairy princess. They wed Feb. 8, 1964. Elaine’s maiden name is Anderson.
Robert worked for Boise Cascade, retiring in 2007. He enjoys fishing, hunting, camping, archery and tinkering in his shop. He is a member of the Elk’s Lodge, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and Touchet Lions Club.
Elaine worked for The Garden Center and retired in 2007. She enjoys fishing, reading, sewing and camping. She is a member of the Elk’s Lodge.
They have three sons, Brad Johnson of Montrose, Colo., Bryan Johnson of Turner, Ore and Benji Johnson of Walla Walla; two daughters-in-law, Veronica Rodriguez of Turner, Ore. and Katie O’Neal of Walla Walla; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren with another on the way.
