BAKER CITY, Ore. — The McLoughlin High School girls basketball team could not overcome a slow start Friday, as the Pioneers fell to Baker, 55-46.

Mac-Hi (5-12, 0-3 Greater Oregon League) entered halftime down 29-17and wasn’t able to dig out of that hole despite getting 11 of MacKenzie Fite’s game-high 16 points in the fourth quarter.

“We came out pretty lethargic in the first half and never really found a rhythm on offense or defense,” Mac-Hi coach Todd Cunnington said. “We played much better in the second half, but the first-half deficit was just too much to erase tonight.”

Mac-Hi travels to Riverside for a nonconference game on Tuesday.
