WALLA WALLA — Three of the four units at the Washington State Penitentiary are back on normal status following an assault Tuesday.

The three units and a fourth one, Delta unit, were put on restricted movement after an inmate assaulted a second prisoner with a sharpened object in Delta Unit.

The inmate who was assaulted was treated at a hospital and returned to the penitentiary. His injuries were not life-threatening, said Shari Hall, prison spokeswoman.

The second inmate, Justin Crenshaw, 26, was placed in segregation. An investigation into the assault in continuing, Hall said.

Delta unit will remain on restricted movement until at least this morning, Hall said. All four units are in the prison’s West Complex and hold close-custody inmates.
