RICHLAND — The Touchet’s boys basketball game against Liberty Christian came to an unfortunate early ending here on Saturday.

The game was called just 28 seconds into the fourth quarter after Liberty Christian’s Nathan Sullivan broke his leg.

The Indians got the win, 45-16, and improved to 11-8 on the season and 8-7 in Southeast 2B play. After getting off to a slow start, the Indians hit their groove in the second frame, as they outscored the Patriots 13-6.

“We just settled in and started moving the ball well,” Touchet coach Tim McKeown said. “We spread the ball and we were hitting our outside shots so they had to come out and defend. We got some looks inside. We were aggressive today.”

Brothers Edgar and Carlos Rincon led the Indians’ offense, as Edgar came up with 14 points and Carlos added nine. Edgar knocked down four 3-pointers, while Carlos also knocked down one of his own.

The Indians restricted the Patriots to only five field goals and single-digit points in all three quarters.

“We threw a press at them and got a couple breaks,” McKeown said. “Then we mixed it up into zone and got some turnovers and deflections and capitalized on the mistakes. I think that was the difference tonight — kids were focused.”

Touchet’s Friday game with Tekoa-Oakesdale was canceled due to snow. The game will be rescheduled for either Monday or Tuesday.
