Reita V. Campbell

Milton-Freewater resident Reita Velle Campbell, 93, passed away Feb. 6, 2014, at Heritage Cottage, East Appleton Road, Milton-Freewater.
Reita was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Walla Walla, to Benjamin and Edith Allen Stanton. She attended Berney Elementary School, Ferndale Elementary School, McLoughlin High School and Walla Walla Business College.
On March 10, 1972, she and Donald Lee Campbell married in Walla Walla. She worked as administrative officer and personnel officer for the Bureau of Reclamation, Spokane Division, retiring in 1972. She moved to this area in 1998 from Spokane.
Reita enjoyed good music and sang in a ladies trio in the Spokane area in the 1960s. She was a church receptionist for many years. She loved to camp out in the woods and travel South in their fifth-wheel for the winter months. She loved visiting Death Valley, Imperial Dam, Yuma and Quartzsite, Ariz., for one to two weeks at a time. She was a charter member of the Spokane Credit Union and the Milton Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Reita is survived by her husband, Don, at their home; two step-sons, Donald L. Campbell II of Longview, Wash., and Gregg M. Campbell of Kelso, Wash.; and 12 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Harley, Eldred, Carl and W. Dale Stanton; and two sisters, Fairy Stanton and Mary Ellen Munnick.
The graveside service will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Mountain View Cemetery, 2120 S. Second Ave., Walla Walla. Chaplain Walt Meske will officiate.
