WESTON — Weston citizens have organized a town-hall meeting to discuss the city’s options for future law enforcement coverage.
The meeting will be held tonight at 6:30 p.m. in Weston-Athena Memorial Hall, 210 E Main St, Weston.
Weston resident Tim Crampton said the purpose of the meeting was for citizens to discuss the options Weston has for law enforcement, including hiring a new police officer for the city or contracting with Umatilla County or a neighboring city.
A summary of the discussion will be given to city council members at their meeting Wednesday, Crampton said.
No action or business related to the police department is currently on the council agenda for Wednesday’s meeting.
