Teddy Bear Tea and Doll Show to raise funds for education scholarships

The eighth annual Teddy Bear Tea and Doll Show put on by the Walla Walla Columbia County School Retirees Association brings to mind that Irving Berlin tune and lyrics, sung by Fred Astaire, “I’m puttin’ on my top hat, tyin’ up my white tie, brushin’ off my tails. I’m dudin’ up my shirt front, puttin’ in the shirt studs, polishin’ my nails, I’m steppin’ out, my dear, to breathe an atmosphere that simply reeks with class; and I trust that you’ll excuse my dust when I step on the gas, for I’ll be there, puttin’ down my top hat, mussin’ up my white tie, dancin’ in my tails.”

For those who prefer a more casual-dress setting, the tea could be right up your alley. It will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Feb. 22 in the St. Francis Catholic Church Social Hall, 722 W. Alder St.

The $6 admission includes a high tea, exhibits, a store, photographer, coloring table, story corner and silent auction.

Proceeds support scholarships for future teachers and related education personnel.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.
