Pomeroy boys, 53-36, winners over Colton

COLTON — The Pomeroy boys basketball team earned their second straight trip to the district championship after beating Colton, 53-36, on Saturday.

Riley Bott and Cole Mayfield led the Pirates’ attack with 22 points and nine points, respectively. Bott knocked in five 3-pointers and Mayfield hit three of his own from the perimeter.

Pomeroy held a 34-14 lead at halftime and cruised to the win from there as coach Brian Koller said, “solid defense and rebounding were keys for (us) in this victory.”

The Pirates will face Garfield-Palouse on Friday for the district championship.
