TEKOA — Tekoa-Oakesdale’s Mattie Jo Johnson and Olivia Pakootas — each 6 feet tall — combined for 38 points to lead T-O in a 62-41 victory over Touchet Saturday in the District 9 1B girls basketball playoffs.

The second-round loss sends Touchet into a loser’s-bracket game against Rosalia Tuesday at 6 p.m. with their season on the line.

The Indians trailed by just four points at the half, but T-O rolled in the second half, outscoring Touchet 39-22.

“The second half we had some defensive breakdowns and allowed too many offensive rebounds,” Touchet coach Malissa McKeown said. “It didn’t seem to matter what defense we played, man or zone, we couldn’t slow them down after halftime.”

Touchet’s Cierra Jo McKeown approached a triple double with 16 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds in the game.
