Weston-McEwen commits 26 turnovers in loss

ATHENA — Stanfield defeated Weston-McEwen 50-41 Saturday after forcing an uncharacteristic 26 turnovers from the TigerScots in their Blue Mountain Conference regular season finale.

“We average only about 14 turnovers a game,” W-M coach Brian Pickard said. “I don’t know what went on tonight. We weren’t ready to play.”

Chuck Simmons led the Tigerscots with 14 points, including four 3-pointers.

The TigerScots cut the lead to three with 2:30 remaining in the game but got no closer.

The TigerScots (18-6 overall, 10-6 league) play Heppner Friday at 7 p.m. to kick off the district tournament.
