WALLA WALLA — A man suspected of raping a woman at his residence last week faces two felony counts in Walla Walla County Superior Court.
Mikal F. Yasin, 38, of 512 E. Chestnut St., is accused of second-degree rape and second-degree assault. The charges were filed Friday.
Police Officer Elias Joven interrupted the alleged sexual assault about 10:15 p.m. Thursday after officials were called to the scene by another resident who had heard suspicious sounds coming from Yasin’s bedroom.
Joven could hear the woman crying and pleading with Yasin not to rape her, so kicked open the locked door, according to a police report filed in court.
After Yasin was handcuffed, he told police, “She changed her mind.”
The 18-year-old woman told police she and her boyfriend went to Yasin’s residence to spend the night.
She said her boyfriend stayed outside and she and Yasin went into the bedroom. Then Yasin started assaulting her and raped her, the police report says.
