COLFAX — The Pomeroy boys basketball team avenged their only two losses of the season and claimed the Southeast 1B district title against Garfield-Palouse on Friday.

The Pirates used a 17-8 third quarter advantage to post a 56-44 win.

After losing the district tittle game last season, coach Brian Koller said this win was extremely gratifying for coaches and players alike.

“Tough defense, solid rebounding and excellent free throw shooting sealed the deal for the Pirates in the second half,” Koller said.

Bryan McGreevy led Pomeroy with 15 points and a perfect 7-of-7 night at the foul stripe. Tyson Feider chipped in 11 points and knocked down a 3-pointer. Riley Bott also added 10 points and Koller said he was “a huge presence on the boards and blocking shots.”

Pomeroy finished 20-2 on the season and will now play in a regional game next week.
