WALLA WALLA — The college baseball season is underway and the Walla Walla Sweets are putting the finishing touches on their roster for the upcoming season of West Coast League baseball, adding pitchers Jearl Jesson and Jay Flaa for the 2014 season.
Jesson, a 6-foot, 3-inch, 200-pound southpaw, is a native of Bermuda Dunes, Calif. The freshman for the Cal Poly Mustangs is a graduate of Shadow Hills High School.
As a senior, Jesson was 5-1 with a 1.05 ERA as he helped his team to the De Anza League title, and earned De Anza League MVP and first-team all-league honors.
Flaa, a 6-3, 220-pound righty, is a junior at North Dakota State. A native of Mandan, N.D., Flaa is a 2010 graduate of Mandan High School.
During the summer of 2013, Flaa pitched for the St. Cloud Rox of the Northwoods League, where he recorded a 2.84 ERA in 10 appearances.
In 2013 for the Bison, Flaa was 1-1 and recorded 29 strikeouts over 36 innings of work.
