Musicians have been getting their style genres on for young audiences at Sharpstein Elementary School on Wonderful Wuzical Wednesdays, the Walla Walla Public Schools Week in Review online newsletter reported.
On Wednesdays throughout the fall, music has greeted students as they enter the school and prepare for the day.
Local artists, including some Sharpstein parents, have shared their talents and thus exposed students to a broad range of music styles and instruments.
Among the more recent offerings, blues guitarist and Walla Walla High School security guard Gary Winston and vocalist Erika Ingersol wowed students, parents and staff who clapped and sang along during their mini-concert.
“These musical Wednesdays have been awesome!” Principal Matt Bona said. “They have given many students a chance to hear live music that they would not otherwise be able to experience in their everyday lives. It has been great to see community musicians volunteer ... to come in and perform.”
Community musicians are welcome to share their talents with students between 7:30-8 a.m. on Wednesday mornings. Contact the coordinator at 509-529-3527 to get on the schedule.
