Wow! Milton-Freewater Masonic Lodge folks prepared lunch for 112 Milton-Freewater Rotary Club and Milton-Freewater Chamber of Commerce members, spouses and guests who attended their annual joint meeting, reported Rotarian Robby Robbins.
The special gathering has occurred yearly ever since Jack Williams kicked it off in December 1954, Robby said.
In addition to a great meal, those attending heard performances from the Central School and McLoughlin High School Crimson & Black choirs and Mac-Hi Jazz Band.
“It was a wonderful Christmas program for us,” he said. It was a sampling of the annual holiday program for the community held later, on Dec. 19 in the Mac-Hi auditorium.
Music Director George White directed the Central Choir in five numbers; Melissa Cunnington directed Crimson & Black in six pieces, including solos from Braden Cunnington, Michael Odman, Jessica Dodd, Heidy Moreno, Colin Dygert and Sydney Richwine.
Director Mike Agidius and the Mac-Hi Jazz Band wrapped up the musical gift with six more tunes, featuring separate vocal and alto saxophone solos by Heidi Moreno; a tenor sax solo by Brennan Smith; and two trumpet solos by Mike.
Rotary President Jon Lieuallen introduced Rotary Board members and Chamber President Julie Culcheck introduced Chamber Board members. Vicki Lee will serve as Chamber president for the 2014 year.
Rotary Club 294 meets at 11:45 a.m. Tuesdays in the Milton-Freewater Community Building, 109 N.E. Fifth St. For details, online see home.rmci.net/robby/MFRotary/ or contact Robby at 541-938-6523 or email@example.com .
