Boy Scouts to pick up Christmas trees

The Boy Scouts of Walla Walla will collect Christmas trees next Saturday and Sunday.

The trees will be used for wildlife habitat construction for songbirds, game birds, and small mammals at Bennington Lake.

While the Scouts will work every street in the area, it is important that trees be placed near the curb. The boys are not permitted to enter homes or yards to remove trees.

If your tree has not been picked up by 3 p.m. Jan. 12, send an email to and a follow-up crew to collect it.

While the collection is free, donations are accepted and are pooled among all the boys working.

The boys will check with the individual households as they pick up the tree and will leave a note with an envelope if no one is home. Donations may also be attached to the tree.
