POCATELLO, Idaho — Andre Hatchett scored 27 points and Tomas Sanchez added 15 with 11 assists as Idaho State put away Eastern Washington 83-72 Saturday night.
The Bengals (5-6, 2-0 Big Sky) pulled ahead early as Sanchez hit two 3-pointers to fuel a 12-0 run, pushing the score to 22-8 at the midway mark in the first half.
Eastern Washington (5-8, 0-2) trimmed the deficit to six in the second half when Parker Kelly hit a 3-pointer to cap a 12-6 surge, but Idaho State countered with a run of its own to take its largest lead, 67-49 with 7:53 remaining.
Idaho State shot 48.4 percent from the field and outscored EWU in the paint 42-14. Jeffrey Solarin had 14 points with 11 boards for the Bengals.
Tyler Harvey had 19 points, Kelly chipped in 16 and Venky Jois added 15 with 10 boards for the Eagles.
