WAITSBURG — After rallying from a nine-point halftime deficit, the Waitsburg-Prescott boys basketball team surrendered 15 free throws in the fourth quarter as Tri-Cities Prep rolled to a 54-51 win on Saturday.

W-P only got six free throws in the fourth quarter as Waitsburg-Prescott coach Tavis Crittenden said his team had a tough time adjusting to how the game was called.

“They press a lot and we usually always handle the press,” Crittenden said. “We kind of forced things and missed some lay-ins in the second half. Fourth quarter, we played well too, we just couldn’t overcome it.”

Devin Acevedo finished with a team-high 12 points for W-P. Crittenden praised Acevedo for his hard work and his ability to distribute the ball from the high post.
