You won’t find gluten in The Garden.
Walla Walla’s vegan destination, The Garden Vegan Café, has rolled out a new wheat-free menu.
According to an announcement on social media, the downtown eatery at 230 E. Main St. will serve its sandwiches on an Ethiopian-inspired wrap that falls somewhere between a traditional tortilla and a crepe. The wrap is made from organic garbanzo bean flour, which meets the diet requirements of gluten-free, Paleo and low-carb diners alike.
The change is one of many that took place over the restaurant’s recent winter break. Tofurky has also been taken off the menu. Though not all cooking products are certified gluten-free just yet, that is the intention for the future. The plant-based menu also includes two new salads, four new rice bowls and wraps, plus the return of juicing.
Also with a new tier pricing on the organic juices, the cost of smoothies has lowered across the board by $1. That means 12-ounce smoothies are $3.95; and 20-ounce smoothies are $6.95.
Those who want to try out the changes can also do it through changing hours at The Garden. Through winter the café will be at six days a week. Evening hours will be extended until 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more details, call 529-3169.
